Come well-prepared for the Monsoon session: PM to ministers

The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers ahead of the Monsoon session starting from July 19. This was the second meeting of the Council of Ministers after the reshuffle of the Union Cabinet on July 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked Union Ministers to come well-prepared for the Monsoon session of the Parliament, sources said.

Jaishankar met the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, on the sidelines of SCO Foreign Ministers' meet in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Recalling their last meeting in Moscow in September 2020, the External Affairs Minister emphasised the need to follow through on the agreement reached then and complete the disengagement process.
ED sends reminder notice to Geelani to deposit Rs 14.40L penalty in 10 days

The Assistant Director of ED sent the reminder notice to Geelani, directing him to pay the penalty of Rs 14.40 lakh, which was imposed upon on him under FEMA. The notice further asked Geelani to deposit the amount within 10 days of receipt of the notice in the form of demand draft. The ED also said that if Geelani fails to deposit the amount within the stipulated time, action will initiated against him under FEMA.
Not standing for President, declares Sharad Pawar amid speculation

Rubbishing the rumours circulating in political circles since this morning after poll strategist Prashant Kishor met top Congress leaders in New Delhi, Pawar said it was "absolutely false" that he will contest for the post of President. "I know what the result will be, given the party (ruling Bharatiya Janata Party) has more than 300 MPs," the 81-year-old told media.

Tell police not to file cases under axed IT Act section, MHA to states

The MHA has also said that if any case has been booked in states and the UTs under Section 66A of the IT Act, 2000, such cases should be immediately withdrawn. The Supreme Court, in its judgment on March 24, 2015 in the matter of Shreya Singhal versus Union of India, had struck down Section 66A, making it null and void with effect from the date of the order, and hence, no action could be taken under this section.
Cabinet approves continuation of Ayush Mission

Launched on September 15, 2014, the National Ayush Mission is being implemented by the Ayush Ministry with the objectives of providing cost-effective Ayush (ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and homoeopathy) services, with universal access through upgrading Ayush hospitals and dispensaries, co-location of Ayush facilities at primary and community health centres.
SC agrees to examine plea against validity of sedition law

A bench headed by Justice N.V. Ramana and comprising of Justices A.S. Bopanna and Hrishikesh Roy told advocate P.B. Suresh, representing the petitioner, to serve a copy of the petition to the Attorney General. The bench will conduct hearing on the matter on July 15. The Supreme Court had sought response from the Centre and Attorney General on a plea challenging the constitutionality of the offence of sedition
India, Maldives review bilateral relations, mutual cooperation
