Delhi: Light rain gives respite but waterlogging too

The authorities have been claiming that they were prepared ahead of the monsoon to ensure minimum waterlogging, however, a few hours of light rain proved all their claims hollow. Waterlogging was seen at several places including AIIMS flyover, Prahladpur underpass on Mehrauli-Badarpur road in south Delhi, Som Vihar, Ring Road, Vikas Marg, Sangam Vihar and Kirari, among others.
West Bengal BJP MLAs resign from standing committees

There are altogether 8 standing committees in the West Bengal state legislature and usually the opposition MLAs are made the chairmen of those committees. On Tuesday all the 8 BJP MLAs who were nominated chairmen of these committees sent their resignations to the Speaker. The letter stated that following the party's instruction the MLAs were resigning from the standing committees.
Delhi gets 1.5 lakh doses of vaccines, to last 2 days

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that many vaccination centres will have to be shut from Wednesday. "There is a shortage of vaccines. We have received a small stock of 1.5 lakh Covishield doses on Monday night," he said. As per Delhi government's data, Delhi has on Tuesday administered about 1,25,000 doses on Tuesday. Delhi has so far administered 22,88,780 doses of vaccines till date.
AAP recognised my 'vision, work': Sidhu

Many expats who left India amid Covid wave are now keen to return

Sources said that about 60 per cent of the expats who were living in India had left for their home countries in the wake of the second wave that hit India in May and June. However, limited flights operating on the international routes are gradually being opened up. Meanwhile, India is all focused to increase the availability of Covid 19 vaccines. The country registered 31,443 news cases in the last 24 hours.
UP on track to beat Covid as active caseload drops below 1.5K

Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday witnessed the steepest decline in the number of fresh cases as the state logged below 60 new infections for the first time in over four months. This is the lowest single-day tally recorded in the state since February-end. The active caseload in Uttar Pradesh has come down to 1,479, of which 1,186 people are under home isolation, while the percentage of active cases as against the total confirmed cases is just 0.1 per cent.
Monsoon covers entire country, including Delhi, on Tuesday

The normal date for monsoon covering the entire country was July 8 but it was delayed by five days due to weather conditions. The continued prevalence of moist easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal in the lower levels for the last four days resulted in enhanced cloud cover and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, the IMD said. "The monsoon advance over Delhi thus occurred on Tuesday against the normal date of June 27."
PM Modi to visit Varanasi on July 15, inaugurate Rs 1,500-cr projects

Govt set to introduce 17 new Bills in Monsoon Session

The bills include changes in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) � replacing the Ordinance enabling prepackaged resolution schemes for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and allowing corporate debtors to propose a resolution plan for the stressed company. Besides, the Centre will also introduce the Deposit Insurance Bill, increase insurance cover to Rs 5 lakh.
3rd Covid wave hits world, join hands to avoid it in India: VK Paul

Citing data which mentions 3,90,000 Covid cases in the third wave across the world so far, Paul said it can only be prevented if people follow appropriate protocols in a coordinated way. To avoid the third wave in India, Paul, while addressing a press briefing here, also asked the countrymen to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advice given during his meeting with Chief Ministers of northeastern states where majority of tourists are being seen violating Covid-19 norms.
