2 LeT terrorists killed in Srinagar gunfight

"Two terrorists of terror outfit LeT/TRF neutralised by Srinagar Police. One of the killed terrorists Ikhlaq Hajam was involved in recent killing of HC Ali Mohd at Hassanpora, Anantnag. Incriminating materials including two pistols recovered," J&K Police said in a tweet citing Inspector General Police Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar. A joint team of the police and the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about presence of terrorists.
Delhi eases Covid curbs; schools, gyms, spas to reopen from Feb 7

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced the steps taken by the authority on Friday afternoon in a virtual press conference. As per the new guidelines, schools for Classes 9-12 will reopen from February 7, while classes from nursery to eighth standard will resume from February 14. Govt willing to intoduce stricter social media norms: IT Minister

Seeking consensus of the Rajya Sabha members for stricter social media rules, he said that the government is ready to take up this issue. Responding to the CPI-M leader Jharna Das Baidya during the Question Hour, the minister said, "If the Upper House has consensus, we are willing to introduce even stricter social media rules for micro-blogging sites such as Twitter and Facebook."
Nearly 5,000 cases pending against MPs, MLAs, UP tops list with 1,339, SC told

A report submitted by amicus curiae, senior advocate Vijay Hansaria said: "Some of these cases were pending for more than three decades. 2,324 cases were against sitting legislators, and 1,675 cases were against former legislators. In 1,991 cases, even charges were not framed. 264 cases were pending due to stay granted by the High Courts."
Committee on MSP after Assembly polls: Govt tells Rajya Sabha

Responding to a question by Samajwadi Party Member Sukhram Yadav in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said that the details of the proposed committee will be divulged once the government gets the Election Commission's approval. "As the Model Code of Conduct is in place in many states across the country ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, the government has not announced the details of the committee," Chaudhary said.

Third Covid wave has more younger patients, deaths due to co-morbidities: ICMR

According to the data collected of hospitalized people in 37 different hospitals across India which did the plasma study during the first and second surge and which are part of the National Covid Clinical Registry, the Omicron surge saw younger in-patients of 44 years as opposed to 55 years earlier, whereas a comparison of co-morbidities stood at 46% versus the 66% earlier. The study also found the common symptoms, mainly sore throat, lesser use of drugs, and significantly improved outcomes.

Covid cases declining across India, except in two states: Centre

"Declining trend in daily Covid cases are being noticed on continued basis in last some days. The active cases have reduced to 15.33 lakhs in the country,", Joint Secretary, Health, Lav Agarwal, told a press briefing on the current Covid situation. He said that 34 states and UTs in the country are recording a decline in Covid cases and positivity rate, but Kerala and Mizoram are witnessing an increase on both counts.
