No data on farmers who died, so no compensation: Govt

Among other questions, the MPs had sought to know the number of cases registered against farmers in connection with the agitation; the data on the number of farmers who died during the agitation held in and around the National Capital; and whether the government proposes to provide financial assistance to the kin of farmers who died during the said agitation.
Omicron variant can be detected by RT-PCR, RAT: ICMR chief

In a virtual meeting with states and UTs on public health response measures and preparedness amid reports of Omicron variant in many countries, he said that the new variant can be detected by the two tests and hence, the states and UTs should ramp up testing for prompt and early identification of any cases. States were advised for target testing of passengers from countries not "at-risk", as part of the ramped-up testing by the states.
151 custodial deaths this year: Centre

Maharashtra reported maximum 26 deaths in police custody followed by Gujarat (21) and Bihar (18). About 11 deaths each in police custody were reported from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Responding to BJP MP Varun Gandhi's question, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that according to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), 151 cases of death in police custody were reported November till 15.
Sitharaman seeks to allay apprehensions on cryptocurrency

A bench headed by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud dismissed a plea by 22 NEET-UG candidates seeking recalculation of their scores due to the alleged error in a physics question in Hindi. The counsel representing the students contended before the bench that the court has to look at the physics textbook, which is considered the Bible for students, before disposing of their petition.
PM Modi is and will remain committed to farmers: Narendra Singh Tomar

Talking to IANS, Tomar said that the "historic works" that have been done during the last seven years of the Modi government to boost the agriculture sector and for the welfare of the farmers were "never done" during the tenure of the Congress government. The Opposition parties, after the withdrawal of the three agricultural laws, are now demanding to enact MSP guarantee law and compensation to the farmers who died during the agitation.
MHA asks states/UTs for rigorous screening of international passengers

In an order issued on November 30, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, in the capacity of the Chairman of the National Executive Committee, asked all Secretaries of the Central Ministries, States Chief Secretaries and Administrators of UTs for rigorous screening and testing of all international arrivals, as per their guidelines issued from time to time.
No case of Omicron variant detected in India so far: Mandaviya

He was responding to a question during the Question Hour. The Covid situation in the country, he said, is under control but measures are being taking to pervent it from spreading further. A total of 124 crore vaccination doses have been administered to the eligible population till date. Earlier in the morning, the Union Health Secretary chaired a review meeting with the states and UTs on the emergence of the new Covid variant. The states were advised to ramp up testing for early identification of positive cases and its management.
