Gowda is known as the ‘Encyclopedia of the Forest’, as she possesses vast knowledge about the herbs and plant species found across the world. She has worked for the environment for over six decades and has planted more than 30,000 saplings as well as taken care of the nurseries of the forest department.
12 lakh farmers benefit from paddy procurement in KMS 2021-22: Centre

The Department of Food and Public Distribution (F&PD) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said it procured over 209.52 LMT paddy during KMS 2021-22 from the procuring states and UTs like Chandigarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Telangana, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar.

Officials of the State Election Commission (SEC), which is conducting the politically important civic polls, on Tuesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has already secured the majority in the seven civic bodies in Jirania, Ranir Bazar, Mohanpur, Bishalgarh in Western Tripura, Santir Bazar and Udaipur in southern Tripura and Kamalpur in northern Tripura.

The whole country saluted the 65-year-old Hajabba for his contribution and appreciated his humility for walking barefoot towards the dais to receive the honour from President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday. Hundreds of people gathered at the Mangaluru International Airport to welcome him. Salim Ishaq Patel and Sardar Shahvali Khan, both close aides of Dawood and the latter a convict sentenced to life imprisonment in the March 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts.
4 infants die after fire breaks out in Bhopal hospital

The fire broke out on Monday. A total 40 children were in the special ward of the hospital at the time of the incident. Of these four died, and 36 were evacuated to safety by the fire officials along with the hospital staff, said Medical Education Minister Vishvas Sarang. A fire official told IANS that the department received information about the fire around 10.30 p.m. on Monday, after which nearly 12 firefighting engines were rushed to the spot immediately.

This was the second targeted killing in Srinagar in last two days. Earlier, a police constable in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar was shot dead by militants on Sunday. The terrorists had shot and critically wounded the salesman Mohammad Ibrahim Khan by brutally firing at him multiple times in the old city Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar.  
National capital Delhi's temperature dips to 13 degrees

Delhi's maximum temperature of the day will settle at 28 degrees Celsius as per IMD predictions. The relative humidity recorded at 8.30 a.m. was 85 per cent, said IMD. On Monday the minimum temperature was 14 degrees Celsius and the maximum was 29 degrees.
Winter Session of Parliament to begin Nov 29, end on Dec 23

Like previous session, the sitting of both Houses - the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha - will be held simultaneously in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines and Members of the both Houses are expected to follow social distancing norms. There would be about 20 sittings of each House and the government is likely to introduce Bills to facilitate privatisation of public sector banks which was announced in the General Budget this year.
