90% Indians want greater women role at climate talks: Survey

As many as 67 per cent of women in the Global South, or nearly two-thirds, think that women and girls are more likely to be adversely affected by the climate crisis, while 73 per cent, or nearly three-quarters, say that addressing gender inequality is a vital part of solving climate change, according to the survey.

The AQI touched 190 at the US Embassy at 6 p.m. after an AQI of 213 at 11 a.m. and an AQI of 210 at 12 noon on Wednesday. The US government website also gave a warning: "Everyone may begin to experience health effects when AQI values are between 151 and 200. Members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects." The meteorological agencies have predicted an AQI of 500 plus for Thursday and Friday when Delhiites burst crackers on Diwali day.

Centre seeks annual report cards from all ministries

Annual reports of ministries will be circulated to the Members of Parliament (MPs) in next year's Budget Session. An office memorandum of ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said that the annual report should reflect actual data from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 and provide projections or estimates for the period January-March, 2022. "On no account, supply of annual reports to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariats, Press Information Bureau etc as indicated, should be delayed under the impression that these reports should contain the actual data as on March 31, 2022," it said.
92% Indians say Global South needs richest nation's support: Survey

The term -- Global South -- broadly refers to Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania includes regions outside Europe and North America, mostly low-income and often politically or culturally marginalized. Around 93 per cent of survey respondents from India said that world leaders should intervene for solving the climate crisis in these regions, reveals the new research from ActionAid. Six in 10 people in India, around 63 per cent think that the Global South is being excluded from the COP26 climate talks, despite the fact that three-quarters, 78 per cent think that people from these regions will be most impacted by the decisions made at the summit.
