India reports 12,729 new Covid cases
In the same period, 221 new fatalities were reported, which increased the death toll to 4,49,873. The recovery of 12,165 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,37,24,959. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.23 per cent, highest since March 2020. The active caseload stands at 1,48,922. Active cases presently constitute 0.43 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.
Got 190 calls on Diwali, no casualties so far: Delhi Fire Chief Chief
The DFS attended as many as 152 distress calls till 12 p.m., which is less than 25 per cent from the last year while 36 calls were received post-midnight till early morning, Garg said while talking to IANS. Among them, nearly four calls are suspected due to crackers, he said. As compared to previous years, there has been a slight fall in accident cases of fire triggered by the burning of crackers.

Gopal told IANS that the foundation work of the temple is almost complete with one and a half metre raft work which is going at a fast pace. This work will be completed in the next 15 days and with this the work of construction of foundation of the temple will be completed in November this year.

Following the reduction effected by the Centre, petrol price per litre came down by Rs 12.27 while diesel prices fell by Rs 6.30 and the average price of one litre petrol in the state was Rs 103.80 and diesel stood at Rs 91.59 per litre. Speaking to the media here on Thursday Balagopal said the Centre has only reduced a very minimum rate and we are not going to reduce it as the state is passing through huge financial stress.
Delhi witnesses season's first fog
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility during the same period on Wednesday was at range of 1,500-2,000 metres in mist/smog. "This (fog spell) has been due to calm/light wind prevailed during this period and presence of higher humidity in the range of 88-95 per cent," the IMD's R.K. Jenamani said.

Delhi's air quality continues to be 'very poor'
According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the AQI slipped to the 'very poor' category on Tuesday. "The average wind speed is less than 10 kmph, and low wind speeds do not disperse pollutants. The air quality could begin improving from November 7 onwards with strong winds," it added.
PM Modi to celebrate Diwali with soldiers at LoC
The sources said the celebrations will take place at the Nowshera sector . The decision of the Prime Minister celebrating the 'Festival of Lights' with the soldiers comes at a time when the army is carrying out one of the longest anti-terror operations in the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri. Eleven soldiers have been killed during the last three weeks in the two districts where a fresh spurt of violence has been witnessed recently.
