MHA extends BSF's jurisdiction in 3 states, cuts short in one
As per the order, the Border Security Force (BSF) has now been empowered to take action within a belt of 50 km in Punjab, West Bengal and Assam running along the borders of India. Earlier, the BSF had jurisdiction till only 15 km in these states.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh admitted to AIIMS
Singh has been admitted to the Cardio Tower of AIIMS Delhi. He is being treated by a team of doctors led by Nitish Nayak. He had developed fever two days ago and was feeling weak, following which he had to be rushed to the AIIMS. In April this year, the former Prime Minister had tested positive for Covid-19, and had to be admitted to AIIMS.
NCB accuses Aryan Khan and others of 'illicit drug trafficking'
The NCB's statement came during a hearing of the bail applications of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Mohak Jaswal, Nupur Satija, Aachit Kumar, Shreyas Nair and Avin Sahu before Special NDPS Judge V.V. Sputnik Light, as booster jab, 83% effective against Covid: Study
The one-shot vaccine, when administered alone, demonstrated 70 per cent efficacy against infection from the Delta variant of Covid during the first three months after vaccination. The vaccine was also found to be 75 per cent effective among people under the age of 60, said a statement from the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF, Russia's sovereign wealth fund) and the Gamaleya National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology.
Delhi records 31 fresh Covid cases, no death for third day
The city's death toll stands at 25,089, and the death rate at 1.74 per cent. Delhi has recorded two deaths due to the infection in October so far. The Covid infection rate in the national capital has declined to 0.05 per cent. The active cases tally in the city has also registerd a decline and stands at 338. With 58 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has reached 14,13,856 so far, the health bulletin said.
