Kerala govt faces criticism over new Covid guidelines

State Health Minister Veena George announced the new guidelines on Wednesday, which says that those who enter shops, banks and other establishments should have at least one dose of vaccine or an RT-PCR certificate not older than 72 hours. In the Kerala Assembly, on Thursday, Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan led a walkout of the House in protest against George, who categorically said there would be no change in the norms.
Ready for discussion on Pegasus: Oppn in RS

"Start the discussion right now, we are ready," he said. He said that he had got a call from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that he will resolve the issue once back from abroad, but no member of the opposition has got any official invite for any meeting so far. In response to Kharge's charge, the Defence Minister said that he had not given any assurance and had only said that the House should hold proper discussion.

ISRO to launch GISAT-1/EOS-3 on Aug 12

The GISAT-1 will be the country's first sky eye or earth observation satellite to be placed in geo-stationary orbit. The GISAT-1 will be launched by the rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-F10 (GSLV-F10) on Aug 12. The rocket is expected to blast off at 5.43 a.m. on that day from the second launch pad, said Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). India's rocket port is located at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
Cong disrupting Parliament to protect interest of family: BJP

Addressing a press conference, Prasad said, "Congress ruled the country for over 50 years since 1947. But, today the country needs to know how the Congress is behaving today. The Congress has a simple formula, Parliament is allowed to function as long as the interest of a family is served and it will not allow Parliament to function if there is no interest of the family." Prasad alleged that the family always behaved in the same manner in the past also.
Pegasus row: SC pulls up lawyer, says no notice for Prime Minister

A bench comprising Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and Justice Surya Kant said: "You have included certain individuals (Prime Minister in the petition). We can't issue notice like this. Don't try to take advantage of things, you have a defective memo of parties." Sharma had argued that the government is fabricating material in the computer through this software and made the Prime Minister and CBI as respondents in his petition.

A bench headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and Surya Kant asked, "No doubt allegations are serious if reports in newspapers are correct. Majority of petitions rely on foreign newspapers, but where is the verifiable material for us to order an inquiry? The surveillance issue came to light two years ago, in May 2019. Don't know why there was no serious effort to raise the issue, why come now suddenly?"
RS Deputy Chairman says suspended Trinamool MP broke glass door

The incident happened on Wednesday, said the Chairman. The complaint has been lodged by a female assistant security officer against Trinamool MP Arpita Ghosh. Harivansh said the matter was under examination. To this, Trinamool leader Sukhendu Sekhar Ray said that the MP was suspended for the day, but when the House was adjourned for the day then only she wanted to come.
Over 42K Covid cases & 533 deaths in 24 hrs in India

With 533 deaths, the death toll in India now stands at 4,26,290. India had reported 42,625 Covid 19 cases on Wednesday. With 723 new active cases, India's active Covid infection tally has climbed to 4,11,076 on Thursday. The active cases constitute 1.29 per cent of the total caseload of India. However, India's recovery rate currently stands at 97.37 per cent.
IYC takes out candle march against rape-murder of minor girl in Delhi

IYC activists led by its national President Srinivas B.V. organised the candle march against the cruelty meted out to the minor Dalit girl and the increasing crime rate in the country. Stating that crime against ‘daughters' of the land is increasing in the country, Srinivas said: "If we look at the figures, the number of Dalit daughters is more. The daughter of a Dalit is also the daughter of the country."
