Govt lists 7 Bills for passing in RS on Thursday
The Bills for consideration are: 'The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 to modify the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State of Arunachal Pradesh'. 'The Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Bill, 2021 will be introduced by Minister Bhupinder Yadav. The Bill is for better coordination, research, identification and resolution of problems surrounding the air quality index .
Jagannath temple in Puri to reopen for devotees from Aug 16
The temple has been closed to devotees since April 24 in view of Covid's second wave. Only Puri residents will be allowed to the temple for 'darshan' from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the first five days (August 16 to 20), Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Krishan Kumar said. The temple will remain closed for the devotees on August 21 & 22 in view of weekend shutdown in the town and on the occasion of Janmashtami.

Delhi reports zero death for 2nd time in August; logs 67 new Covid cases
The overall Covid death toll of Delhi stood at 25,058 on Wednesday, the bulletin said. With 67 new Covid cases, the city's cumulative infection tally rose to 14,36,518, out of which 14,10,947 patients have recovered from the disease and 25,058 have succumbed to the virus. The recovery rate continued to remain at 98.21 per cent for the 20th day in Delhi. The active cases have also registered a substantial decline and stands at 513 presently.
Mamata Banerjee writes to PM, blames DVC for flood situation in state
"Recently, there has been a low-pressure formation resulting in high rainfall in West Bengal and Jharkhand. Nearly 2 lakh cusec of water was discharged from the Panchet, Maithon and Tenughat dams of DVC, leading to severe flooding of huge areas in Hooghly, Howrah, Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum and Paschim Medinipur districts," the Chief Minister said.
